On June 10, 2024, Menka Nagrani received the insignia of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec, a prestigious distinction bestowed to personalities whose exemplary achievements reflect the artistic and literary development of Quebec. Discover the tribute paid to her by the Council.

Menka Nagrani is a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer and director whose exceptional pieces veer off the beaten track. Whether creating dance shows from dramatic texts, showcasing jig and traditional Québec music in her theatrical creations or her unusual casting, Menka Nagrani is full of surprises. She is one of Québec’s pioneers in including artists with diverse capacities.

In 2004, she founded Les Productions des pieds des mains, an interdisciplinary, inclusive company that produces short films, cultural mediation workshops and shows presented on professional stages in Québec and abroad. Recognized for her pedagogy in training neurodiverse artists, she is invited to give conferences and master classes in Canada and abroad. Researchers examine her teaching methods, which are the focus of studies and publications.
