The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) is one of the most important public financial partners of professional artistic creation, production and dissemination in all regions of Québec.
Accordingly, the CALQ requests the artists, writers and arts groups and organizations that receive funding to show their appreciation and offer visibility reflecting the importance of this support, along with that received from other public or private financial partners.
The acknowledgment expected by the CALQ can assume various forms, depending on the communication tools used by the artists or organizations concerned. In general, this may take the form of inclusion of the following in promotional materials, and on social networks and the website:
- Visual signature and logo
- Written acknowledgement
Visual signature
The CALQ’s visual signature This link will open in a new window must be included:
- On the website (with a hyperlink to the CALQ’s site)
- On all printed materials related to the activities funded (programmes, disk sleeves, pamphlets, catalogues, etc.)
- In the credits of a film or video that benefitted from support in whole or in part
- On the credits or acknowledgements page of a book whose author received support
The placement and size of the CALQ’s visual signature must reflect the proportion of its financial support in relation to that received from other public partners.
At press conferences, promotional activities or on social networks, the CALQ requests that its visual signature be visibly displayed in accordance with the scale of its financial contribution. The CALQ encourages artists and organizations to project its visual signature on a screen when possible.
Use of the CALQ’s visual signature or logo by an individual or organization that has not received official confirmation of financial support is strictly prohibited.
No matter what format or platform is envisaged, the downloadable logos must be used in their approved electronic form (see below). The visual signatures and logos must not be altered in any way.
The gouvernement du Québec Logo
In the event that the artist or organization benefits from financial support from other Québec government sources, the gouvernement du Québec logo This link will open in a new window (“Québec flag”) replaces all other logos and must appear unaccompanied.
If you have questions about the use of the logo of the Government of Québec (“Québec flag”) or for approval about its use on materials, contact visibilite@mcc.gouv.qc.ca
In this instance, the artist or organization is invited to thank the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec by means of a written acknowledgement. This mention must be distinct and separate from the gouvernement du Québec logo.
Written acknowledgement
In a situation where the visual signature cannot be used, the CALQ therefore requests the inclusion of a written acknowledgement which is clearly noticeable on promotional materials, press releases, social networks and the dedicated website.
Here are two examples of preferred wording:
- “(artist’s or organization’s name) thanks the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for its financial support.”
- “The creation of this work was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.”
In both cases, the name should be used in full (Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec), instead of the acronym CALQ.
Other forms of recognition
Verbal mention
Artists and organizations can give credit to the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec by means of a verbal expression of thanks at a press conference, exhibition opening, book launch, symposium inauguration or performance premiere, to cite a few examples.
Banner
Besides its logo and visual signature, which can be downloaded from this page, the CALQ can provide certain display items (laminated panel or banner) adapted for events. Please communicate with the Direction des communications et de la promotion des arts et des lettres du CALQ at least 15 working days before the scheduled event.
Messages and speeches
Any request for a message or a speech must be sent to the CALQ at least one month prior to the date on which the organization wishes to receive the text, at the following address: evenement@calq.gouv.qc.ca
In accordance with the government’s language policy, texts from the CALQ are provided solely in French. In certain exceptional instances, a courtesy translation can be provided.
In the event that a message from a minister of the Gouvernement du Québec appears, the CALQ will not publish a separate one.
