Becoming member of juries
To ensure better representation of persons with a disability on committees and juries, as noted in the Declaration of Services to the Public This link will open in a new window, the CALQ solicits new candidacies that meet the skills profiles approved by the board of directors and that meet at least one of the following conditions:
- be an artist according to the meaning of the Act respecting the professional status and conditions of engagement of performing, recording and film artists, that is, who practises an art on their own account and offers their services, for remuneration, as a creator or performer in a field of artistic endeavour referred to in the law;
- be a creator in the visual arts, arts and crafts or literature, declare oneself to be a professional artist, create works on their own account, have works exhibited, produced, published, presented in public or marketed by a promoter, according to the meaning of an Act respecting the professional status of artists in the visual arts, arts and crafts and literature, and their contracts with promoters, have received recognition from their peers as a professional artist, through an honourable mention, an award, a prize, a scholarship, an appointment to an adjudication committee or an invitation to participate in a salon or by any other similar means;
- be a manager or a professional in one of the fields covered by the CALQ (visual arts, theatre, dance, music, popular song, multidisciplinary arts, digital arts, film and video arts, circus arts, literature, arts and crafts, architectural research, landscape architecture, urban planning, and environmental design). Furthermore, the candidate must have at least five years of artistic practice or at least five years of relevant experience in the case of a cultural professional or manager. The candidate must be recognized for their skills in one or more fields of artistic endeavour. They must provide the CALQ the information about their candidacy to justify their hiring. Employees and board members of the CALQ, the public service, employees of other government, public, or private organizations that support the arts, agents, or artists’ representatives, as well as journalists or people who regularly exercise the profession of critic may not be hired as members of juries or committees or as assessors.
