Montréal, September 15, 2017 – The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) is offering Québec-based choreographers an opportunity designed to enhance their professional careers. This new two-month choreographic residency involves the creation of a work for 12 professional dancers in Basque Country.

This outstanding opportunity stems from CALQ's collaboration with Dantzaz (International Centre for Choreographic Creation), Tabakalera (International Centre for Contemporary Culture), Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia (Department of Culture, Autonomous Province of Gipuzkoako) and Montreal's School of Contemporary Dance (EDCM), which will host the Basque choreographers in Québec. The conditions offered by the partners are conducive to the development of creativity and the evolution of the choreographers' artistic approach, as well as their international career profile.

The Québec-based choreographers will take part in a one-month research and exploration residency at the Tabakalera cultural centre in Donostia-San Sebastian, as well as a one-month creation/production residency at the Dantzaz centre in Errenteria (Basque Country). A total of 12 professional dancers affiliated with Dantzaz will be available to produce a 10-to-15-minute work that may be presented publicly or performed as part of a European tour.

Registration deadline: November 2, 2017

Eligible individuals: Choreographers who have over five years of experience and who have had at least two works performed in a professional context.
